Design and production of DNA vaccines

Monteiro, G. A., Prazeres, D. M. F.

Abstract

Plasmid DNA vaccines offer a credible alternative for the prevention and treatment of infectious and acquired diseases. In order for a DNA vaccine to be successfully developed, several scientific and technological challenges associated with the design and large scale production of plasmid DNA must be addressed. Following a brief introduction on the DNA vaccine topic, the research under way is described and some significant results in the design and manufacturing of DNA vaccines are highlighted.
