Research Activities
The current development of new biopharmaceutical products such as monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) has increased the need for improved production technology. In particular, the purification of biopharmaceutical products must meet high standards of safety, efficacy and potency, which translates into very high purity levels. Recently, the potential application of liquid-liquid extraction based on aqueous two-phase systems has been shown for the capture of mAbs from cell culture media. The goal of my thesis is to develop an integrated process for the purification of MAbs that allows the integration of clarification, concentration and purification in just one step.
