Research Activities

Cell separation is an important tool in the field of cell biology and biomedicine, allowing the selective and subsequent cultivation of specific cell populations. Recent advances in regenerative medicine and cancer research have increased the demand for fast and economical cell-based separations feasible at large scale. In particular, positive selection of HCS is now an essential step in cellular therapy, due to their unique properties. The goal of my work is to establish a novel selection process, based on immunoaffinity ATPS, to isolate and purify a specific population of HSC, from a complex mixture of cells UCB and its integration in a scalable ex vivo expansion system.
