Research Activities

 

My work will focus on affinity purification of monoclonal antibodies using magnetic nano- and micro-particles supported in aqueous-two systems (ATPS). The effect of the operational variables (eg. pH, polymer molecular weight and temperature) and magnetic particle surface functionalization (hydrophobic, electrostatic and biospecific ligands) on mAb partition will be evaluated in different ATPS systems. Process conditions will be optimized and different continuous extraction systems will be tested. The ultimate goal is to optimize mAb recovery and purification in crude media with the concomitant process integration.
