New Method for Purifying Therapeutic Proteins

Patent, 17th September 2009

A world patent (WO/2009/112149) was issued by Bayer Technology Services and Instituto Superior Técnico describing an alternative process for the purification of therapeutic proteins such as monoclonal antibodies by multi-stage liquid-liquid extraction using aqueous two-phase systems. This patent bilds on the results obtained during the PhD thesis of Paula Rosa at Instituto Superior Técnico and Bayer Technology Services, which was integrated in a Eupropean project founded under the 6th framework programme (AIMs No.NMP3-CT-2004-500160).
